International Festival Eindhoven 2018

On June 10th 2018 the third annual International Festival Eindhoven took place and The Hub was part of it. It was a day full of internationals getting together and experiencing different cultures, foods, music, entertainment, art and crafts, and workshops. The delicious and authentic cuisine choices available at the festival included Chinese, Italian, Venezuelan, Dominican, Mexican, and Indian.

At The Hub we held multiple activities that the whole international families could enjoy.  Including workshops and artistic performances as well as arts and crafts.

At The Hub we sang and danced along with the great performances of Escola de Samba Os Malandros, Mariachi, Turkish music with Band 9/8, and Indian Dance Sanoli. While the kids could enjoy face painting, piñatas, and Chinese writing.  A few of the workshops that took place in The Hub included a Chinese cultural workshop by ACSSE, an Indian dance workshop by Sonali, and Volunteering in Eindhoven with Doet.

Another aspect of the day was the  E52 – Expat Top 10 award ceremony which honored 10 international who have contributed greatly to Eindhoven’s international community.

The theme this year for the International Festival Eindhoven was Jobs for Expats. Some of the companies at the event included ASML, Undutchables, and AIESEC. Inside the VDMA building, they were over 50 exhibitors who shared advice and helpful information for internationals in Eindhoven. Workshops taught international expats about how to buy a house in The Netherlands, how to start a small business and prepare for a job interview. Expats could also seek information to help with their immigration and residence process. And lastly, there were local driving schools experienced in helping internationals get their Dutch drivers license.

This is a festival international expats should not miss next year no matter how long you have lived here in Eindhoven. The Hub looks forward to seeing you next year.
